Sunshine cushion

I can't believe it has been over a week since my last post. This week has gone so fast, and to be honest I have just been plain lazy about posting! In my last post I said that I might have a completed cushion cover to share with you - well, I do!

Here is the cushion made with my latest motif design. I'm calling this motif the sunshine motif. I'm quite pleased with the way this cushion turned out, and I loved working with all these colours!

I think this cushion has a South American feel to it. Something about all the colours together and the sunburst element of the motif. Can anyone else see that?

I also made a button closure for this cushion - I do love that on a crochet cushion, I think it gives such a nice finishing touch!

I would love to share this pattern with you - I'm actually mulling over the purchase of crochet chart software. I think this would be much better than writing out patterns long-hand, which, let's face it, is a bit of a chore!

Well, I think you have probably had enough of the cushion for now! As Autumn is approaching here with the start of September I've been turning my thoughts to knitwear. More soon!

  1. Your cushion is brilliant Jen - colour, motif and workmanship, and yes, I agree, you've certainly captured the South American feel with it! I also like the way you've stitched your squares together.
I'd be interested to hear more about Crochet Chart Softwear - that's new to me - I'd better have a wee look for that - keep the brain cogs churning!
I really am so impressed with this lovely cushion - well done!

  4. Hi Jen, I just popped over for a visit from my blogging sister CJ Stitching and Blooms. Your pillow is fabulous! I too love the look of button closures - they give an nice professional and finished look to the project. I am your newest follower, couldn't help myself what with all the crochet and mention of fall knitwear! I'm a sucker for anything yarn... it's my newest addiction. I'm even learning how to spin my own yarn which what a long time dream. Not working any longer has made for an entire transformation of my brain, or maybe it is the menopause thing, whichever I'm having a fabulous time in my studio... yes, even in my jammies!:D
Well, great to meet you and look forward to seeing you often in blog posts!
Hugs from a new blogging sister,

    1. Well, welcome to you Beth! Yes, I too am a fellow yarn addict - I'm not sure I'm the type to try spinning myself - I like the luxury of going to the yarn shop and choosing colours where someone else has already done all the hard work! But, I admire you for having a go, and I hope you enjoy it!

I'll definitely pay you a visit over on your blog.

  11. Dear Jen, I just came across your blog because your pillow cover caught my eye! I am a dolls maker, but love crocheting and knitting very much.. so I joined your followers! At the moment I am crocheting too, but I haven't made up my mind yet: will it be a pillow cover, or a little blanket? That's the question! I just wonder what people like best (want to put it in my Etsy shop).
Succes with your October knitting, greetings, Annasoer :)
