Adore scarf

I finished the adore scarf from Kim Hargreaves book Misty last week, but I'm only getting round to posting about it now.

I made it in a nice blue bell colour, which Rowan call 'Ultra' - shade 659.

Pictures below - its lovely, but I think it might be a bit fluffy for the warmer weather we're getting now. Maybe its more of an early spring/autumn thing.

Flowers and fabric

I happened to be in the area of Liberty's in London yesterday, and couldn't resist a trip to the haberdashery department as well as taking some photo of the lovely flower displays around the entrance - the flowers smelt as gorgeous as they look too - if only I could capture that for the web!

And I also took a sneaky snap of some of the bolts of fabric on sale - I think these were Kaffe Fasset and Rowan fabrics. They look so lovely - I love the mix of strong warm colours - pinks, purples and oranges. I must make something incorporating those colours.

Crochet kindle case

I had an idea for a crocheted kindle case, so I had to try it out (despite this being the 4th kindle case I have made - my kindle must be the best dressed on the East Coast mainline!

Anyway, I think it worked well, and it's a good way of using up left over yarn!.

I used dk weight wool-cotton yarn, and started with a foundation chain of 50 using a 3.5mm hook. I worked a chevron pattern where you work 2 dc in the first chain, work 7dc, skip 2 chain, work 7 dc, work 3dc in next dc and then repeat until you get to the last peak in the chevron where you work 2dc again (instead of the 3dc used to make all the other "peaks".

Christina - finished!

I'm very happy with this! I used a wool cotton mix dk weight yarn and 3.25 mm needles. I made the extra-small size and didn't make any modifications. I love the colour of the yarn and the texture of all the different stitches. I think that I'll be wearing this a lot over summer.

Christina cardigan - in progress

After a brief period of indecision last weekend about whether to push on with summer knits or give in to temptation and knit a snuggly textured cowl which I had an idea for, I choose to push on with the summer knits, and now I'm glad I did!

So I thought I would share with you my progress on the Christina cardigan from Kim Hargreaves' 2011 summer book Whisper. Its coming along pretty well: I now have the back and both front completed and am about half way through the first sleeve. I hope to have it finished in a week or so.

I have made this using Rowan Wool Cotton in shade Frozen, which is a lovely grey-lilac shade - I'm not sure how well that comes through on the pictures. I havent' changed the needle size recommended - wool cotton is quite a stretchy yarn, and I think it will be fine once blocked and washed. I'm making a size extra-small, as usual. Small always comes out way too big for me.

I can't wait to have this finished and wear it - I'm sure it will look lovely with a little lace trimmed camisole, or perhaps a pale coloured chiffon blouse I have - maybe with a little sparkly brooch. More pictures when it's finished!

Daffodils

Just to prove to myself that winter is nearly over (despite the fact that it was snowing here this afternoon!), some of the daffodils I snapped on my lunch break on Friday. These were in Tavistock Square in London.

So now thanks to the snow, I can't decide whether to carry on with my spring/summer knitting, or stop and do a chunky cowl which I have been toying with attempting. I have been knitting the Christina cardigan from Kim Hargreaves book Whisper, (back and one front done), but I also have some sheeny grey merino yarn which would make a lovely textured cowl, which it seems may come in handy until April at least.
